Bahia Samba with Jamaican Vibes
The Repenique leads this piece with a lot of freedom for improvisation. The Timbal also improvises, following the lead of the Repenique.
The leader plays the following call and respose three times, optionally varying the tempo.
The Intro concludes with the following, leading us directly into the full groove.
The leader plays the following on Repenique one time, while the res of the group plays the groove. The Surdos then respond by playing this rhythm twice, while everybody else plays the groove. The ensemble stops, the Repenique and Timbal players close out the break, and the groove returns.
Repenique: 1 time.
Surdos: 2 times.
Repenique & Timbal: Finish Break 1, immediately upon the final note of the Surdos., then the Medium Surdo leads us back to the groove...
The leader plays the Mr. Roboto melody, and the Ensemble responds twice. The Repenique repeats the melody, the Ensemble responds once, the Medium Surdo plays the crescendo, and the groove resumes.
The leader signals the end, the group stops, the Repenique and Timbal players perform the following, and everybody plays the final two notes.
